White Settlement Day Parade History

Parade History  (1956 – 2015)

The first White Settlement Day Parade was held in April 1956 as one of several events planned for a “White Settlement Day” program. The event featured a Pioneer days theme in the late 50’s to early 60’s and moved to the homecoming weekend of C.F. Brewer High School. From 2000 until 2004 the White Settlement Day Parade was held on the first Saturday in October, but in 2005 the parade moved back to Brewer High School’s homecoming weekend and continued through 2015.

The City of White Settlement introduced the Settlers Day Festival in 2008 as a two day event held at the Civic Complex and Veterans Park. The city moved festival events to one location, Veterans Park, for 2009. In 2010 the Settlers Day Festival was moved to homecoming weekend with the White Settlement Day parade adding to the day’s activities. The Settlers Day Festival suffered a blow in 2010 when rains and high winds forced a cancellation. The festival was not held in 2011 but in 2012 the City of White Settlement resumed the Settlers Day Festival. In 2013 the Settlers Day Festival was held at the city’s newly remodeled Central Park. In 2014 the City of White Settlement and Hawaiian Falls joined together to plan the Settlers Day Festival. In 2015 the City of White Settlement organized the Settlers Day Festival with the event held at Veterans Park and was not held on the homecoming weekend. The final White Settlement Day Parade was held in 2015 as a homecoming weekend event.
